The purpose of this paper is to provide a survey of the empirical literature on environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) estimation of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions over the period of 1991–2017.,This survey categorizes the studies on the basis of power of income in empirical models of EKC. The environmental Kuznets curve posits an inverted-U relationship between pollution and economic development. 2019-11-28 · The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis explains the relationship between economic activity and environmental degradation. Using the EKC hypothesis as a theoretical framework, this study tested the EKC hypothesis for 12 East African countries using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach for the period from 1990 to 2013. The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) is one of the crucial energy-environmental economics research fields, which has been attracted by numerous academics and researchers for the last three decades. EKC-related studies started with Simon Kuznets (1955) who examined the relationship between income inequality and economic growth.
